Consulting Overview
Going into consulting immediately upon graduation has been extremely positive and rewarding. Looking back I know I made the right decision. Leaving college and entering the "real world" is scary. For the first time ever, you're really on your own. Consulting however gently eased me into the working world. Within weeks, I immediately embraced being a young professional and the joys that come with the lifestyle. I had a challenging and stimulating job, lived in the heart of Lincoln Park, finally had an excess of disposable income, had my weekends to go out with friends, and overall was reveling in the innocence of being a young adult in a big city.
Think of consulting firms as Think Tanks. You are brought in by companies to help them drive solutions towards vague and complex problems. You are there to bring in a fresh perspective and offer insight that they may not have thought about. In the process, you will begin developing an analytic business mindset that will only continue to grow as you mature professionally. You will gain a 360 degree perspective of how businesses operate, and the necessary requirements it takes for businesses to succeed in today's ever changing global economy. You will be tested professionally and be immediately expected to add value to your clients and help them achieve results. Through it all, your skill set and professional value will exponentially increase with each project and passing month.
